Venice is a favourite city for many artists and tourists alike. I first saw this magical floating city when I was 12 years old, and I remember falling in love with the place. I have been lucky enough to have been back as an adult with my own family on a number of occasions, but this has always been during the busy summer holidays.

Last year, only 3 weeks after the devastation from the Aqua Alta in November, I visited a very quiet Venice and was blessed with beautiful dry weather and the twinkling Christmas lights.

Although I witnessed some incredible sunrises and sunsets, the highlight for me was appreciating and capturing the complex textures which make Venice, Venice. The marble, the gold, the wrought iron, the crumbling brickwork and those glorious reflections, all in abundance, waiting to be admired.
